Seung Hyeon is in the class of 2023 at MIT, majoring in Biological Engineering with a minor in Chemistry. She has held research positions in neuroscience labs at MIT, investigating Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Alzheimer’s disease, and other neurodegenerative diseases. She joined the ASPT in September 2019 where she was able to strengthen her ability to collaborate, lead, and analyze as a future entrepreneur and a scientist. Drawn to the world of innovative biotechnology by the spirit of medical altruism, she aspires to become a trauma surgeon and to make a lasting impact with her work on thousands of people in developing countries. Previously, Seung Hyeon also volunteered for a special education organization and a hospital, and now, she is mentoring underrepresented students (K-12th). Born in South Korea and immigrating to California at age 10, she speaks both English and Korean natively and is currently learning Chinese. Her hobbies include jigsaw puzzles, 2D/digital art, and daily walks with her family.

  • Managed educational program development for Alzheimer’s Disease

  • Produced design template for the main educational resource

  • Edited and updated citations for scientific copy

  • Created and managed a fundraising pipeline

  • Prepared briefings for fundraising calls

  • Contributed to the creation of a comprehensive neuroscience startup database (over 1600 companies)

  • Performed intel searches and data harvests across hundreds of companies, identified company funding status, maturity levels, geography, and investor data

  • Formulated graphs to represent insights on neuro startup funding landscape

  • Developed scientific copy for use in marketing and reporting materials

  • Wrote briefs summarizing neuroscience presentations for use on social media and Youtube

  • Edited and developed copy for scientific nonprofit donor’s annual report

  • Assisted in preparing federal filings for a nonprofit corporation

  • Collected information on steps required to incorporate a new 501c3 in the state of California, and gathered information need for filing of the appropriate documents to form the new nonprofit corporation
